GF Smith Colorplan invitation designed by StudioDBD.

The British Pop Archive is a national collection dedicated to the preservation and research of popular culture, currently supported by a major exhibition at the John Rylands Research Institute and Library in Manchester.

The exhibition features iconic items from British pop history, mostly unknown to the public. Highlights include personal records and artefacts relating to The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, The Haçienda, Factory Records and Granada Television.

StudioDBD designed the archive’s brand identity, referencing its location in the North West, and each era within its collection, through a series of graphic devices which were incorporated into the exhibition’s printed collateral.

Produced by Lancashire Printing Co, the project features duplexed GF Smith Colorplan Pistachio for the invitation, and a Mandarin outer wallet, both embellished with metallic and black hot foil.

"GF Smith provide exceptional papers which are great for creating the right level of impact needed on a project such as this"

Dave Sedgwick, StudioDBD
