As an independent business, people are, and always will be, the fabric of GF Smith. From our caring, can do culture to the international partners who share our values, we know that we’re only as good as the people we work with and we pride ourselves on working with the best and doing our best.
Hull has and always will be our home. Community is the heart of what we do and we’re proud to be part of this great city and the people who live here. In this spirit, we set up the GF Smith Charitable Trust to use GF Smith’s privileged position in the UK creative sector for the better.
We want to help bridge the gap between young people in Hull and careers in the creative industries. Through the Trust, we want to create opportunities, inspire and support the local creative community in and around our home city, within the HU2 postcode and across the wider creative community as a whole.
As B Corp certified business, we are committed to giving back to the planet we all live on and are always looking for ways to innovate, rethink and challenge how we do things in order to make our business as sustainable and planet friendly as possible. As one of the world’s oldest and most natural materials, paper can be recycled more than seven times and we offer a wide range of paper made from various recycled materials.

Back in 1885, George Frederick Smith made the decision to supply printers and publishers with the finest paper. Since 2018, we’ve reduced our annual CO2 emissions from 760 tonnes of carbon to 200 tonnes. Whilst most of the 200 tonnes still being produced comes from heating our warehouses, we’re actively looking at ways to reduce this so that by 2027, GF Smith can become a carbon free site.
