Heaven Scent - Paper Passion
BY LAURA HOUSELEY
When Karl Lagerfeld, that notorious collector of books, shared his observations on the scent appeal of paper with long-time collaborator publisher Gerhard Steidl, therein began the project to create a printers perfume. ‘Paper Passion’ has been orchestrated by Wallpaper* magazine and executed by perfumer Geza Schoen for Steidl with the intention of replicating the evocative smell of fresh ink on paper. Although the concept was announced a year ago, the scent is now ready to be launched complete with packaging concept by Lagerfeld.
The perfume is described as ‘heavy, elegant and calm’ by Steidl and is intended to induce meditation and concentration - just like reading a good book. There have been few greater celebrations of the printed page than this.
‘Paper Passion’ will launch on 17th April
